What can you do with 480 hectares of land?
Just the gist
Short on time? Here's what you need to know this month:
- 🐑 Spring is in full bloom – over the Easter weekend, our Mineral Weathering in Scotland project welcomed some newborn lambs to their farm!
- 🌳 New beginnings – they also acquired 480 hectares of land in Clackmannanshire (Dumyat). The Future Forest team will use this site for regenerative projects to combat climate change.

Hello, there 👋
I'm Path, a new team member at Wren! I'll be updating you on new project updates, and you'll hear more from me on our social media pages. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, reach out via email. I'd love to hear from you.
As for now, let's hear from our project partners in Scotland!
Spring is in Full Bloom
Over Easter, our partners welcomed some new baby lambs to their Glenaros farm. The woodland species balance the ecosystem on the east coast of Mull in Scotland. Springtime is always an exciting season to celebrate new life!
Here are some sheepish facts:
- 🧠 Sheep have very good memories. They can remember approximately 50 individuals (sheep and humans!) for years at a time.
- 🌊 Sheep are extremely good swimmers and have been known to cross rivers and lakes to seek out better pastures.
- 👀 Sheep’s large rectangular pupils allow them to see approximately 270 degrees -that’s about 100 degrees more than humans! They can even see behind themselves without turning their heads.

The Dumyat Project Proposal
Dumyat (Dùn Mhèad in Gaelic) is an iconic historical hill in central Scotland, rich with history. You may be familiar with the location as a touristy area. The Future Forest Company recently acquired 480 hectares of the classic site. As the first partner and purchaser of their projects, Wren is eager to see what they accomplish with this new land.
About 190 hectares of this land has been set aside for tree-planting. The plan is to plant over 250,000 native trees in this area, contributing to the goal of 50 million trees in the UK by 2025.
This woodland restoration will also fulfil targets of carbon sequestration and biodiversity. They are partnering with forestry organisations to ensure positive progress toward these goals.
“We know how much Dumyat means for local communities in Stirling, Clackmannanshire and the surrounding area, so look forward to working closely with residents and organisations to protect the planet for future generations, whilst ensuring access to Dumyat continues.”
Jade Rein, Co-Founder of The Future Forest Company
Our partners also promise to prioritise community, education, and accessibility for this project. There is path access between Blairlogie and Stirling University that will be improved. Traditional events (such as the Dumyat Hill Race in May) will be uninterrupted. The site will prove to be a key resource for academic research.
If you have feedback regarding the Dumyat woodland creation proposal, you can share your thoughts here.
That's all for this update! As always, thank you for your support.
